Anglesey Show 2009

The joint AGAP and Kehoe Countryside stand drew the crowds last year, to see demonstrations of traditional gate making and slate fencing, pick up a free tree from the Woodland Trust and learn about grazing and sustainable countryside management. The stand won first prize in the Non trade stand competition- an unexpected bonus!

Carneddau Pony Sale

The Carneddau ponies play a big part in grazing on AGAP land on Anglesey so we were closely involved in running the first Carneddau Pony sale at Llanfairfechan in December 2009. One Hundred and nine ponies went through the sale ring to find homes as Conservation grazers and family ponies. The next sale will be held in November 2010 in Llanfairfechan. Carneddau Semi-Feral Pony Handling Course

AGAP worked with the arrange a course in which the Carneddau pony breeders were taught handling techniques by Dru Butterfield of the Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust.

Wild foals and yearlings that had never been handled were tamed so they could be lead, have their feet handled and load into a trailer using methods derived from Australian Brumby trainers.

The skills learned through this course will be used to train youngstock in the future to improve returns for the breeders.
